Who we are
Pet Travel Advisor ("we") operates this site, the assistant Mila and PT Pass. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: privacy@pettraveladvisor.com.
What we collect and why
- Chat messages. Everything you write to Mila and her answers are stored so our team can improve the knowledge base and, if you ask, follow up on your trip. Legal basis: legitimate interest in running and improving the service.
- Contact details. Your name, email or phone, pet and route are stored only after you agree inside the chat. We use them to send you the checklist you asked for. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- PT Pass account. Name, email and password (stored only as a hash), and, if you add them, phone, country, city and address. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email with us. Legal basis: the contract with you.
- Your pets' passport. Pet profiles (name, species, breed, birth date, weight, sex, colour, microchip, photo), vaccinations and treatments, and documents you upload. They are private: only you see them. If you share your pet's public profile (QR code), it shows the pet's name, photo, breed, character, stamps, level and Travel Ready status, never the microchip, documents or your details. Legal basis: the contract with you.
- Mila in PT Pass. When you are signed in and chat with Mila inside PT Pass, she reads your pets' passport (pet details, vaccinations, treatments and the list of documents, not the files) and your contact details, so she does not ask for them. They go to the language model with each question and are not saved in the conversation.
- Places, reviews and photos. Pins you add, with the pets that were with you, reviews, photos, answers to "still pet-friendly?", safety alerts and reports. We remove location and camera data (EXIF) from photos before we store them. Legal basis: the contract with you and our legitimate interest in an accurate map.
- Location. Only when you tap to find places near you, add a pin or post a review, and only with your browser's permission. A review's location only decides whether it shows "verified visit"; we keep that yes or no, not where you were. We never track you in the background.
- Paws and invitations. What you earned Paws and stamps for, your level, who invited you and whom you invited, and the pack friends you added.
- Emails. Account emails (confirming your address, resetting the password) always; reminders before a vaccine or treatment runs out and news about your places and reviews unless you turn them off in Profile → Emails.
- Technical data. IP address and request logs for security and abuse prevention, kept for 30 days.
What other people can see
Other PT Pass users see the pins, reviews, photos and alerts you add, with your first name and your pets' names and photos. Your passport, health records, documents, contact details and home address are never shown. Pack friends see the cities you travelled to with your pets, never your home city or the exact places. Places and reviews are also part of what Mila knows, without your name or your pets' names. Who reported something is visible only to our team.

We use no advertising or third-party analytics cookies.
Who sees your data
Our team, and the providers that run the service for us under data-processing agreements: Google Cloud (hosting, file storage and the language model behind Mila, which does not use your messages to train models) and our email provider. Map tiles are loaded from OpenFreeMap, which sees your IP address like any website you load images from; place search goes through our server. If you choose Google sign-in, Google processes that sign-in. We never sell personal data.
Retention
Conversations without contact details: 12 months. Leads (contact details you agreed to share): until your trip is over and at most 24 months, or until you ask us to delete them. PT Pass: for as long as you keep your account. When you delete it, your passport, pets, health records, documents, photos and reviews are deleted; pins you added stay on the map without your name. Safety alerts expire after a few days; reports are kept up to 12 months for abuse prevention.
Your rights
In PT Pass you can download all your data and delete your account yourself, in Profile. You can also ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted by emailing privacy@pettraveladvisor.com with the email or phone number you used. We answer within 30 days. You may also complain to your data protection authority.
